Runny, itchy eyes ruining Spring for you, yet again?? It's Helichrysum Hydrosol to the rescue! A couple of sprays into your eyes, and they will be bright and clear again. A 4 oz spray bottle is $26, and will often provide relief in just a few moments.
Spring Cleaning
If you're like me, this is the time of year I pledge to reduce clutter, get organized and do a thorough spring cleaning! So many of our essences are excellent for cleaning surfaces like floors, sinks and counter tops. The Orange essences and/or Mexican Lime are powerful, anti-bacterial cleaners. Cinnamon Bark is excellent for getting rid of ants. Just drip your choice of these essences on a counter top and wipe off with a warm, wet (not dripping) sponge, and your area will smell wonderful and be spotlessly clean. The Pine family is wonderful for doing floors (add 10-15 drops to a bucket of water, along with your general household cleaner, if you wish). The essences leave a fabulous "energy" in your home, and you can rest assured that you have addressed any harmful bacteria via their powerful cleansing and antiseptic properties.
A Natural Alternative to Flea Collars
A fun and effective way to create your own non-toxic flea collar for your dog is to take a
length of cotton clothesline (just enough to completely reach around your dog's neck) and
drip 5-7 drops of Rosemary (any of our varieties) onto it. You can also put 2-3 drops of
Lavender (Fine) on it to "soften" the smell of Rosemary, if it is not one of your favorite
aromas! Take a bandana and fold it in half to create a triangle. Place the length of
clothesline inside the triangle so that it lies along the fold. Fold the tip of the triangle so
that it meets the longest side (base) of the triangle, and then fold the smaller end of the
material over another two or three times to create a "collar" that is about 1-1.5" wide.
Let it "air out" for an hour or so, then tie it securely around your dog's neck and Voila!
You have a natural, non-toxic flea collar for your dog!! You can "refresh" the length of
clothesline with a few more drops of each essence every week or so when you replace
the bandana with a clean one.
